Next Friday 27th September we are doing a talk/workshop at the Freshtival organised by the Fresh Awards. We are at the Greenhouse in Media City from 1-2pm. Please do come and see us. Would be good to meet some of you! It's free to come.

As part of the Freshtival, we also have a window display, we will be taking over a window at Brand Fusion in the Lowry Shopping Centre and we want your work to feature in it.

Therefore, what better brief than to advertise the Freshtival itself? Entries will all be displayed and winners featured. So make sure you put your Twitter name in the corner.

Nearly 100 entries today on a brief to advertise something very close to us. Thanks to every single one of you who got involved.

We will be featuring the winners along with various others on the walls of The Haunt. We will then tweet the images and feature them on our website.

Amazing level of entries in quantity and quality but we have to have winners.

In no particular order we have:

@skynewsman with 'Happy. Ours.' Very personal ad for members of McCann Manchester.

@ryancreatescopy with 'Let your hair down' Funny visual and line and 'Chilling' which speaks for itself.


@sebhill74 with 'we binge think' brilliant copy based ad.


@bshryane with 'I see ad people' Brilliant line.

@jmharcourt with 'you'll never go home' excellent double meaning.

@stephenhunter21 with 'ideas on tap' simple yet effective.

@sharpstuffbits with 'Employees only. Passed and present.'

@thescampfactory with the non-joke which made us laugh!

@dognbonesjones with 'if Carlsberg did ad agencies' a big compliment to McCann Mcr with it's pool, gym and now pub!

@wavey_gravy with a great idea for beermats. Advertising the pub with different media. Like it.

As some of you already know, we had an idea a couple of months ago to do something for our agency McCann Manchester with the prize money we received for being voted global agency of the year across McCann Worldgroup.

We wanted to do something for everyone in the agency and make the place even more social. So why not create our very own pub for our staff?!

And here we are a couple of months later with 'The Haunt' (there's a ghost in there and we've seen UFO's!!)

We want you to advertise it.

Remember it is an in-house pub at an advertising agency. Not open to the public.

The best ones will be featured on the walls of our pub and myself and James will get the drinks in for the winners at our OMB event.

A 'very' fun Friday brief. Apologies for the late winners. We were opening our very own pub at McCann Manchester. We have been working on this for a couple of months and will share more details with you shortly.

Some great entries. Enjoyed going through them.

Interesting how, when the brief is a bit naughty, the entries are quite reserved. Then when we advertise normal products like chocolate the entries are often risky!

As ever, thanks for everyone getting involved.

Below are the winners.

@sharpstuffbits with 'read a f**cking book' Very direct and true message. Quality.

@matthew__wyatt with 'go to bed with a good book' Possibly the plainest bit of copy you could have for a book ad but superb in context.


@alvo_muses with 'a rousing read' Fantastic line. All it needs.

@skynewsman with 'Cowgirls and Indians' Brilliant play on words.

@lpbiesty with the different approach of a drinking game. Nice thinking.

@dr_draper with a population based ad. Good different thinking.

@dognbonesjones with 'sex from a whole new angle' Great copy. Proof that design isn't everything with OMBs. An idea in note form works just as well.

Some familiar names amongst the winners. Going to show that the more OMBs you do, the better you become at simple, creative thinking.

Hopefully we can all continue to learn from each other and get more and more people into the OMB thinking. Brilliant stuff from everyone.

With the news of the Royal Mail going up for sale to the public, we thought it would be a great OMB brief and the response was brilliant.

Here are the winners in no particular order.

@sharpstuffbits with 'TLC to PLC' Nice, emotive ad.

@tonysimmons with the message in a bottle ad. Nice visual to make people aware of Royal Mail going public.

@lpbiesty with 'remember that heartfelt e-mail?' Everything is so easy to lose in this digital age and this ad questions it which we like.

@writeygentleman with 'off with her head' referencing how the royal aspect won't be there any more when it becomes a public company.

@dognbonesjones with 'soon to be posting huge profits' Simple, hard hitting copy to make people buy shares.

@linda_naro with this great campaign replacing the crown in the logo to raise awareness of the privatisation.
