Absolutely overwhelmed by the fantastic response we had to this brief. The quality of ideas was immense and would love to see some of these being made for real. You should all be proud of your efforts.

For this reason we have quite a few winners today.

@dissential with the cause of death of men under 30 is men under 30. Very thought provoking copy.

@supercoolkp & @doritosyndrome with 2 versions of a great thought 'better late than never.

@gazzamatazzzz with some great media placement on public transport. There are a lot of ideas around death etc but there are all sorts of other things that can happen as a result. Great thought.

@chorles with a double win. 'Molly didn't reach 20' and the foot down spade visual. Both superb ideas.

@thenickryder with an ambient idea for mirrors in pubs. Quality thinking. 

@louegancreative with a good radio thought for an engine test and sounds. Very impactful.

@charl_banks with 'got somewhere to be?' Great copy.

@_hhcreative with a great TV thought. 'It's not a game' This could be a brilliant campaign. Can we all make this happen for real?

@simonmaye with 'Speeding cures heart disease' Very different way of looking at it. Almost using a positive to make you think of the negative. Brilliant work.

The Unity Foundation is an award winning social enterprise that delivers a range of services using the arts, sports and culture to deliver a positive social change for young people and their communities.
Reaching its tenth year in working in the community, The Unity Foundation continues to respond to local social problems that they see on a daily basis; this includes unemployment, families living in poverty, low educational achievements, school exclusions and children entering the care system.

The Unity Foundation aims to provide equal opportunities for all young people to achieve and develop into positive young citizens. For some this may require developing existing skills and capabilities and for others it may mean exploring their potential. A supportive and innovative way of working helps our young people become productive young adults.

First of all I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who got involved with this brief. It was particularly important to me and I have had a lot of interest in the role of creative partner. I'm currently working as a freelance creative partner and still looking to work with someone.

Brilliant brief today with @blondedigital. Lots of fun ideas sent in for a light-hearted topic.

The prizes are a blonde wig to each of the two winners. The one catch is that you have to tweet a selfie of you wearing it. Looking forward to this after seeing who the two winners are!!

@stephenhunter21 with 'Fair do's' Great ad with a price point for hair dye. @chorles had a similar thought but this edged it with the product.

@dognbonesjones with 'have a blonde moment' Would love to see this ad for real.

Great brief with loads of fantastic and puntastic entries. Was my first day working freelance. Hopefully no-one saw me retweeting pictures of meat during the day. Would have thought I was insane!

Today's brief is a personal one to us as the creators of One Minute Briefs and Bank of Creativity.

Today’s brief is being run in collaboration with Ryan Wallman (a.k.a. @dr_draper) – who is Head of Copy at Wellmark, a healthcare communications agency – and Advertising Health, an online hub for the healthcare advertising industry.


Brief

Campaign to raise awareness of Type 2 Diabetes & prompt people who may be at risk to ask their doctor for a diabetes test.


Entries

For regulatory reasons, please ensure that you do not include the names of any prescription-only products in your ads.

Winners

The best entries from this brief will be featured on the Advertising Health website and the Wellmark blog.

The overall winner will also receive Dave Trott’s ‘Predatory Thinking’ book as a prize.


Background: about type 2 diabetes

Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. It impairs the way the body uses glucose (sugar), which results in a build-up of sugar in the blood.

Type 2 diabetes is caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Although there is a strong genetic predisposition, the risk of type 2 diabetes is greatly increased by lifestyle factors such as obesity, lack of physical activity, and poor diet.

Many people first diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes are unaware that they are even at risk, and most of them are only diagnosed ‘by accident’ (i.e. as part of routine tests or while they are being treated for other conditions).

The problem with this is that organ damage can occur before any symptoms are noticed, so delayed diagnosis of type 2 diabetes puts people at risk of serious complications, such as kidney disease, eye disease (including blindness), heart disease, stroke, and disease of the peripheral blood vessels (which can lead to amputation). About half of the people with type 2 diabetes have some evidence of complications at the time of their diagnosis.

For these reasons, type 2 diabetes is sometimes called ‘the silent killer’.

Hello, as some people already know, myself (Nick) and James have now left McCann Manchester and are now working on freelance and project work.

James is taking some time out at the moment so I am looking to team up with someone for freelance opportunities over the next few weeks. I am the copywriter usually so I am mainly looking to partner up with an art director.
