One Minute Brief WINNERS:
Advertise Mistletoe

An impressive response to a rather festive brief. Good number and some really nice winners that are all a bit of fun in the spirit of the product.

Hope you all had a great Christmas and used mistletoe to it's full potential!

The winners are:

@maxgordon94 with "if in doubt, get it out" A silly but fun line which is what it's all about.

@matthew__wyatt and @sharpstuffbits. Nice idea of the Christmas tree visual. With some art direction this could be a great piece.

@hellonaomi_ with this "Warning" ad Brilliant.

@lpbiesty with a special Lynx idea. Want to see this happen next Christmas! Great work.

@boc_atm It's not often you want the message of an ad to go over someone's head but it's a nice opportunity to say it on this occasion!

Happy Boxing Day everyone. Hope you all had a great Christmas and have an enjoyable New Year.

As some of you will know, we run the Bank of Creativity which is our overall brand and we run a series of projects under it. These include One Minute Briefs, Agency Quotes, Creative Account and Bumting. A lot of this is run on Twitter and in the last year we have gained a fantastic following on all of our accounts. We enjoy engaging in conversation with people who share our interests and Twitter gives us a great platform to do so.

@AgencyQuotes has been amazing this year with a huge level of interaction across the creative industries. We hope for more people next year as we plan to create some books from the brilliant content that gets created.

@OneMinuteBriefs has become a very strong, creative community full of talented people that share advice, ideas and above all a great laugh. We have been invited to talk at lots of events, worked with some great people and been fortunate enough to meet some of the OMBLES in person. Being able to help people to get live work out there, develop their portfolio and provide a platform to share thoughts is important to us and we will continue to make this even bigger and better for our followers in 2014.

As we head into New Year...we thought it would be a good idea to share our resolutions with you for 2014. So here they are:

*Create an OMB book.
*Create an Agency Quotes book.
*Develop an OMB integrated website & app.
*Provide more and better prizes for our followers.
*Bring out the Bumting.
*Host an OMB event.
*Work more with education and talent.
*Win more awards.
*Blog more.
*Share even more fun.

Our highlights of 2013 have been:

*Creating a pub for everyone at work at McCann Manchester. It's not often you get a chance to do that!

*The post-its Christmas Decorations. Bit of risk but it paid off and looks great.

*Seeing Gareth Alvarez and Rob Gorton's great OMB work featured in Campaign Magazine.

*Working with the NABS and Liam Foundation charities on some great, rewarding projects.

*Participating at the Promax UK, D&AD, TAONB, Fresh and Twestival events.

*Meeting and working on our OMB stand with legendary director Tony Kaye.

*Shortlisted in Cannes Lions

*Silver in the Roses Awards

*Commended in the 'Next Big Thing' category at MPA Awards.

*Fresh Award for Innovation.

*Founding Bumting

*Above all, making lots of great friends across the world!

Hopefully we haven't missed anything out there. We'd like to say thank you to every single person who has been involved in anything we have done this year. It really is appreciated and we want it to be an even better experience for all of you in 2014.

See you there.

One Minute Brief WINNER:

Tremendous response to an interesting brief subject. Was a very difficult decision to choose a winner but the eventual winner stood out due to it's sheer simplicity.

The winner is @Matthew__Wyatt with 'Kills Smoking' This has got so much campaignable potential. Fantastic idea and visual. The vouchers go to you to use for yourself or as a gift so send us your contact details to interest@bankofcreativity.co.uk and we'll sort it out for you.

The 2 runners-up who were very unfortunate to not take top spot are @misterDJC with 'No Whiffs or Butts' and @stephenhunter21 with 'Why cough up anymore'. Both clever copy ideas and again really really simple but effective. Excellent standard.

Well done to everyone involved, there were a lot more that were top quality.

One Minute Brief WINNERS:
Advertise Fresh's Change of Address and Number

After another fantastic collaboration with the Fresh Awards, they have decided on the first and second place in their competition.

The prize being a free entry into the Fresh Awards 2014 for the overall winner.

However, Fresh have chosen us (@boc_atm) as the winner with James' nice stamp visual idea, so we would like to give our prize to the runner-up @PWCFreelance and it is well deserved with his great use of the logo as paint for decorating the new place!

I'm sure we will have many more collaborations with Fresh in the future so there will be plenty more opportunities to come.

Thanks to every single person who got involved. It was a very tough decision.

One Minute Brief REPS:

Creative Account
December 19, 2013

One Minute Brief REPS:

In the next few weeks, you may start noticing 2 of our OMBLES a little bit more than usual.

The 2 girls, Sophie and Mellissa, have decided to do their Final Major Project at University to advertise/promote One Minute Briefs.

A key part of their work is research so if they ask you any questions etc please give your best responses and be kind :p.

They have been working hard and produced leaflets to give out and have focussed their efforts on education and how OMB can help in that sense. They came to see us with their plans and we were very impressed with what they had to say. We feel that they are representing OMB brilliantly and get exactly what we are about. It is a pleasure to collaborate with them on such a unique project.

If anyone has any suggestions to help them or you want to share your advice/OMB experiences with them then please get in touch.

Last week Sophie and Mellissa headed up to Woodhouse College to give a presentation on One Minute Briefs and the advertising industry. Yesterday, they went back to challenge them with a One Minute Briefs workshop. The students had never taken part in One Minute Briefs before, but caught on quickly.  Students went against each other advertising sponges, twitter, toilet paper, vegan cookies and quite a few more. Some tweeted their entries in and are now new followers of One Minute Briefs on Twitter. It was an interesting visit and hopefully the start of many more to come.

See the pics below. Looks like they had fun and hopefully sharpened their thinking too!

Huge credit to the girls for their hard work in making it happen.

One Minute Brief:
Advertise JC Vape

I'm sure you've all seen the naughty adverts for VIP Vape on TV lately. They are getting a lot of attention. However, our friends at JC Vape are better!!! With loads of great quality products available and friendly, knowledgable staff.

They are offering £20 vouchers to spend on products to the winner. So whether you smoke or you don't they could be ideal for gifts etc.

Below is some info about JC Vape. You can see more on the website here: http://www.jcvape.co.uk

Make sure you follow them on Twitter and mention them in your entries on @jc_vape

Vaping?

This alternative to smoking is proving to be a revolution with its health, social and financial benefits.

As an example a 20 a day smoker will spend in excess of £50 a week, will cough at least 15 times a day, have stained teeth, clothes, fingers and skin, vile smelling breath and socially you have been forced to be ‘abnormal’ by the government making you smoke outside.

As an employer you have many hours of down time as your smokers head outside to take a break. Then there is the fire hazards including the obvious and who hasn’t lost a lighter and singed their hair and eye brows on the gas hob?

Vape liquid contains 4 pharmacy grade chemicals in comparison to cigarettes which contains over 4,000. 69 of which are known to cause cancers.

Vaping has no cancer causing chemicals but like tobacco contains nicotine which is the addictive ‘drug’. Treating the nicotine addiction is only a very small part of the problem. Many products have been produced as smoking cessation but do not address the habit of holding something and blow out smoke. Vaping does this by giving you something in your hand, something that allows you to blow out smoke and a safe nicotine hit without the 1000’s of dangerous chemicals found in cigarettes.

Vaping does not create a hazard for non smokers.

So what is the science behind it?

The Vaping units and e cigarettes are known as ENDS (electronic nicotine delivery systems) they work by a battery which when engaged produce heat which through a wick soaked in liquid and sucked through the mouth piece produce water vapour, you inhale the vapour.

Recent news:

The Government have now put in place a process where all products by 2016 will need to be licensed as a medicine and a medical device through the MHRA (Medicines and health care regulatory agency).

This is a welcome decision because this regulation will ensure that unscrupulous manufacturers will no longer be able to flood the market with sub standard products and liquids.

We are working with a supplier who is now already in the process of licensing by 2016, and is already UK based.

Come and experience the alternative..
Our shop is staffed only by people who fully understand what they are selling and are all now VAPERS not SMOKERS.

We offer the full range of liquids to taste using disposable mouth pieces to prevent any form of cross infection to our customers.

One Minute Brief WINNERS:
Advertise Anti-Nail Biting Polish

Was feeling tense this morning and started to bite my nails. Bad habit! So that's where the brief came from. And you've all definitely convinced me to buy some and wean myself off it!

Lots of great ideas resulting in the winners you see below.

@chrismillar89 with a nice play on words of chews/choose and 'nail biting stuff' This would be a brilliant brand name.

@alvo_muses and @mrowainthomas with 'Fighting Tooth and Nail' Clever yet humorous line.

@tomcdixon with let's not put another nail in the coffin. Nice use of photo-booth too!

@alvislives with the great sad face visual using the nail. Simple but effective.

@dognbonesjones with a couple of great lines and nice style of ad.

@thatbrandguy with 'nail biting ending' Clever line with good meaning.

@matthew__wyatt with the no entry sign on the nail. Great visual.

@lpbiesty keeping up his fine form of late with 2 entries. Nice freebie idea. And the new year solution is a brilliant line which would be perfect for a seasonal product ad.

Great work everyone. Fantastic prize available for tomorrow's winner. Get involved.

One Minute Brief of the Day:
Encourage people to pay for the fonts they use

Today's brief is a collaboration with our old friend Bruno Maag, who we met at Liverpool Creative Festival a few years back. His company are the creators of some beautiful typefaces that you see in the communications of very famous brands. It makes a big difference what font you use and today we are looking to highlight this.

Remember to include their Twitter handle in your tweets too. @daltonmaag

Great prizes available today.
2 free fonts from the Dalton Maag Library which you can view below.

Website: www.daltonmaag.com
Company blog can be found here: http://blog.daltonmaag.com/

Here's a quote from a famous typeface:
"You love my type, you love my shapes, the way I fit together. My kerning turns you on. I give you immense pleasure, yet you want all I have for free. Just show me a little respect and pay for a licence to use me. Who knows, you may find that one day I can give you even more than you expected."

Below is some info about Dalton Maag and Bruno Maag. The logo is above for you to use too.

About Dalton Maag:
Dalton Maag designs high quality fonts and logos, helping brands to find their voice. With bases in London, Vienna, Hong Kong and Brazil, the company employs over 50 people from ten countries, and handles a wide variety of projects, many of them large and high profile. Dalton Maag’s international clients have included such big names as Nokia, Ubuntu, the FA Cup, Petrobras and BMW. A speciality of the company is our expertise in non-Latin scripts, including Devanagari, Arabic, Cyrillic and Hebrew.

About Bruno Maag:
Bruno Maag is Chairman of Dalton Maag, International Typeface Designers. He began his path to becoming a type designer with an apprenticeship as a typesetter for the Tages Anzeiger, Switzerland's largest daily paper. He fell in love with the smell of ink and the clatter of printing machinery. His passion for letterforms led him to study typography at Basel School of Design. Bruno then cut his professional teeth designing type at Monotype, both in the UK and in the States, where he designed fonts for the New Yorker magazine.

Bruno established Dalton Maag in 1991 and it has become one of the world’s leading type design studios, designing fonts and logotypes for well known international brands. Bruno’s background and experience make him a valuable addition to a brand team. As an external resource with a very specific skillset, he is able to offer impartial advice to ensure the best possible result for the client. Bruno also lectures frequently on the subject of typography and its implementation within a brand environment.

One Minute Brief WINNERS:
Advertise Speech Therapy

Interesting subject for today's brief. Something that isn't often thought about but is a very serious problem for some people. Amazing amount and great ideas throughout.

Today we have chosen, along with votes, a top 3.

In 1st place is @katesteeth with the 'Larynx effect' This is fucking genius. You need to make this into a campaign immediately.

2nd place with a very blunt yet subtle and clever idea using Tigger is @fifty50AD

3rd place with a beautifully simple line and CTA. 'Free Speech' by @alvo_muses

Thanks to all those who got involved.
