“Hey Dan is named after my brother-in-law, Dan, whose death by suicide split our world open and left a trail of heartbreak behind him, the people who loved him, the questions that never find answers, and the moments we will never get back. His loss left a family trying to make sense of the silence he left behind, carrying the same aching wish anyone who has lived through this will recognise... one more moment, one more chance to say “hey, are you okay?” and for him to feel safe enough to answer truthfully. The name Hey Dan comes from that moment we wish we still had. One simple check-in. One small chance to change a path. This initiative exists to honour him, and everyone left behind, by turning that wish into action and encouraging conversations that feel real, early and human, so that more people stay, more stories continue, and fewer lives end in silence.”

Hey Dan
Because we wish we had one more chance to say hey.
Hey Dan is a new initiative from Raising the Glass, created in memory of Dan, someone loved and missed. This is our commitment to honour his life through meaningful action. We wish we had one more moment, one more conversation, one more chance to simply say, “hey, are you okay?”
We know that conversations around mental health, especially for men, are still too often hidden. Suicide remains the single leading cause of death for men under 50 in the UK. Yet every number represents someone’s brother, someone’s father, someone’s uncle, someone’s best friend. Someone who mattered.
Our Mission
Hey Dan exists to spark one simple, powerful action - to say 'hey' before it is too late.
Our mission is to make reaching out normal. To encourage conversations that save lives. To remind people to check in on their brothers, fathers, uncles, friends, and themselves.
Because every 'hey' could be the one that makes someone feel seen, supported and still here.
Who’s behind this initiative?
At Raising the Glass, we believe that allyship and inclusivity go both ways. Our work has always focused on championing women and allies in the drinks industry, and Hey Dan expands that circle. It’s about creating space for everyone to feel seen, supported, and able to speak up. No shame. No silence. Just connection, care, and community.
We’re at the beginning of building this initiative, and we’ll be sharing more soon. If you’d like to stay part of the journey, collaborate, or offer support, we’d love to hear from you.
Until then, if there’s someone you haven’t checked in on lately, say hey.
