One Minute Brief of the Day:
Create posters to encourage people to have a conversation about #OrganDonation with their families.
Brief ran for @NHSOrganDonor #OrganDonationWeek #WordsSaveLives

Remember to mention @OneMinuteBriefs and @NHSOrganDonor with the hashtags #OrganDonationWeek and #WordsSaveLives in your tweets.

About:

This week is Organ Donation Week, which is all about raising awareness of the life-saving power of organ donation and encouraging families to discuss the topic.

There’s lots of things you wouldn’t tell your family; some topics are definitely off limits for dinner table chat! Organ donation shouldn’t be one of them. It isn’t always easy, and can be difficult to bring up, but a few words now could save someone’s life one day. In fact, one organ donor can save or transform up to 9 lives.

If families know their loved one wanted to be an organ donor, they are much more likely to say ‘yes’ to donation going ahead. Fewer than half of families agree to donation if they are unaware of their loved one’s decision. Over 90% agree when the decision to be an organ donor is known.

The theme of the week is ‘Words Save Lives’. Eight in ten people would consider donating some or all of their organs. But only a third of adults in England have told their partner or close family.

Can you inspire more families to have that all-important chat about organ donation?

One Minute Brief of the Day:
Campaign to #BanTheBed with @MelanomaUK #UKSunbedBan

Today we have another great brief for a good cause with our friends at leading skin cancer charity, Melanoma UK who want to follow the lead of Australia and ban the sunbed. Looking forward to see some amazing ideas coming through!!

Remember to tweet @OneMinuteBriefs & @MelanomaUK with the hashtag #BanTheBed. Don't forget to sign the sunbed ban petition too at https://goo.gl/sGk4eG

Prize for the winner: £100 Amazon vouchers!!!

About:
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, kills 6 people every day.

It has long been considered that use of sunbeds can be a contributory factor in developing melanoma. The NHS, Cancer Research and Macmillan, all give the same advice - ‘do not use sunbeds’.

The World Health Organisation reports that it is estimated that sunbed use is responsible for over 450,000 skin cancer cases and more than 10,000 melanomas in the United States, Europe and Australia.

If melanoma spreads through the body, it is notoriously difficult to treat, and the treatments used are expensive.

Treatment of these cancers costs the NHS over £400m every year.

We want to follow the lead of Australia and ban the sunbed!!

Campaign to get people to consume/buy/use more consciously with @ccchangemakers @designmuseum

Today we have the chance to support Creative Conscience - a creative charity with global reach - that encourages, rewards and supports the next generation of creative thinkers to use and build projects to build a better, fairer and more sustainable world.

Top line brief:
Creative Conscience are holding an event at the Design Museum in London on the 25.09.18. the second in the series ‘DESIGN CHANGE MAKERS’ this event is focused on CONSCIOUS CONSUMPTION. It's aim is to inspire and show great things around the way we all ‘consume’.
How we can choose, design and creative ideas that will better serve us and the planet? What can we do to choose better more ethical brands when buying food/products/fashion? How can we change to new positive behaviours? Circular economic models, less waste, biodegradable materials and have more fun.
EXAMPLE: brands like Patagonia & Fairphone look at putting people and planet first in the way their materials are sourced and the way they treat their employees.

We’ll be exploring creative solutions to some of our consumption issues and ideas in an active, inspiring and inclusive way.

About:
The campaign is in support of Creative Conscience and a need to change peoples perceptions around how we ‘consume’ ie: buy stuff and that there is a better way and better choices.
At the event we also plan to gather data on the positive outcomes and mental well being of those attending.

Campaign to promote #MonsterOnAMission with @PurpleEmmett

Today we have another great brief for a good cause with our new monster friend at ‘Purple Emmett’ along with a great prize. Looking forward to see some amazing quick ideas coming through for this fantastic cause

Prize: A bottle of champagne to the winner.

Remember to tweet @OneMinuteBriefs and @PurpleEmmett with the hashtag #MonsterOnAMission. You can also use the hashtags #EpilepsyAware #EndOfScarySeizures

About:
Epilepsy is a condition that affects the brain. When someone has epilepsy, it means they have a tendency to have epileptic seizures which come in many diffrent forms, and they’re not all from the classic go to epilepsy = flashing lights. Anyone can have a one-off seizure, but this doesn’t always mean they have epilepsy. But for many people epilepsy is a life-long condition.

Being diagnosed with epilepsy is life changing and can be scary for young people and children. Emmett, is the friendly purple monster that is putting a stop to this. He is building a environment which helps young people and children learn about epilepsy and what to do if they or someone they know has a seizure or absence. Seizures do not have to be scary. The aim is to get children and young people to recognise Emmett as their friend, there are soon to be children’s books which will be given out free at hospitals around the UK.

Campaign to encourage the public to #LoveYourBrownLawn with @AnglianWater

Today we've got a fun brief with a very important message as well as a great prize to be won! Can't wait to see what the OMBLES come up with for this one!

Remember to tweet @oneminutebriefs and @anglianwater with the hashtag #LoveYourBrownLawn

Prize: £100 for the winner!!!

We've had a little bit of rain over the weekend but we've had one of the hottest, driest summers in recent memory and lawns everywhere have been going brown. But contrary to what many proud lawn owners believe, a brown lawn isn’t dying, the roots underneath are still alive and healthy. When it’s hot and dry grass goes dormant to preserve nutrients and as soon as it rains it will quickly bounce back to green. So we’re asking people to put away the sprinkler and the hosepipe and learn to love their brown lawn! Saving water is vital to ensure there’s enough water to go around for people and the environment – and it’s one less garden job to do in the summer!

One Minute Brief of the Day:
Advertise the #Armistice100Days book by @26Characters

Today we've got a very special commemorative brief with our friends at @26characters with a great prize to be won. Looking forward to see the interpretations of this brief!

About:
November 11, 2018, marks the centenary of the end of World War One, a war that brought devastation and destruction never before seen. In remembrance and to mark the occasion, 26 Characters is creating a special collection of literature: The #Armistice100Days book.

100 writers from across the globe chose one person alive between 1914 and 1918 and wrote 100 words (a 'centena', the first three words matching the last three) about how the war affected them. The subjects include the famous and the non-famous, those who fought and those who didn't.

The book containing all centenas may be purchased with a £10 donation here, with profits being donated to War Child UK. Both 26 and Imperial War Museums will be publishing centenas daily through 12 Nov on their respective sites.

Please use #Armistice100Days as a hashtag, as well as #Armistice, #FWW, and #centena if possible.

The winner of today's brief receives a free book, signed by five of the contributing authors.

Today we have another great brief for a good cause with our friends at City to Sea along with a great prize. Looking forward to see some amazing quick ideas coming through!

Prize:
£100 to the winner.

Remember to tweet @OneMinuteBriefs & @CityToSea_ with the hashtag #MenstrualCups. You can also use the hashtags #PlasticFreePeriods #RiseoftheReusables

About:
Menstrual cups are a way to have zero waste periods, championed by brands like Rubycup, Divacup and Mooncup.

In the UK about 700,000 panty liners, 2.5 million tampons and 1.4 million pads are flushed down the toilet every day - many of which block our sewer systems and escape into our rivers and seas. Flushed plastics make up around 8% of beach litter in the UK, and that figure just keeps on climbing. Research indicates that if big changes aren’t made in the near future the weight of plastic in the sea will outweigh that of fish by the year 2050.

We want to change the narrative around reusable period products and periods in general, and see women switching from plastic disposable products to reusable ones that are better for the ocean, for our wallets & for our bodies.

One Minute Brief of the Day:
Advertise @blindwoodturner and how you can't give up even when faced with a life changing disability. #keeponturning

Today we are collaborating with a blind woodturner who wants to inspire and motivate people to keep going, showing them that anything is possible.

Brief:

Advertise the Blind Woodturner and how you can keep going even when faced with a life changing event.

Please tweet all entries to @blindwoodturner and @OneMinuteBriefs and please include the hashtag #keeponturning

Please refer to the Chris as the Blind Woodturner in all communication.

Prizes:

Winner:
- Chris to speak at your event/give an inspirational talk at your company
- Shared and promoted on all social Networks
- A custom made woodturned item.

2 Runner Ups:
- A keep on turning t-shirt

Background:

Chris Fisher, also known as the Blind Wood Turner started out in life as a regular guy, working in auto body repair at BMW, until one day, completely out of the blue, a rare virus (Toxoplasmosis) reared its ugly head and caused him to lose his sight in a matter of weeks.
This was completely life altering and a massive change to come to terms with. In many respects, dealing with becoming blind was like starting anew, having to learn and teach himself how to do the basics all over again, as well as dealing with the onslaught of anxiety, hallucinations and muscle spasms that often accompany the loss of sight.
Nevertheless, Chris refused to give up and, after four years decided to take up woodturning so that he could make myself a vampire stake – he's a huge horror film fan!
While every day is still a challenge, these challenges are what fuel his mission – to exceed the expectations of what others perceive disabled people are able to accomplish, and to prove to himself and the world that having a disability isn’t the end, it’s just a new beginning.
Today, Chris travels around the country giving public woodturning demonstrations, speaking about his experiences and sharing his story on his YouTube channel in an effort to inspire, motivate and activate people no matter what their circumstances, to achieve their full potential.
Chris' message is simple – whenever you feel like you want to give up, just keep on turning.

We're looking for posters with positive messages based on the music track and video which you can see here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQS-V9MZtDA&feature=youtu.be&app=desktop

Remember to tweet your posters to @OneMinuteBriefs @NHSVoices @NHSMillion @LoveYourNHS with the hashtag #WithALittleHelp #NHSVoices #NHS70
Feel free to tag in any of the celebs you see in the music video too!!

Amazon - https://buff.ly/2lPd3FO

This is your chance to have your work shared within a huge campaign for a great cause.

About the campaign:

NHS STAFF WHO BEAT BIEBER ARE BACK WITH BAND AID NHS

Dr Katie Rogerson, 33, and fellow NHS worker Joe Blunden, 34, have joined NHS colleagues to create a Band Aid-style single to celebrate the 70th birthday of the NHS, and they hope to top the charts following the track’s release today. The brilliant music video to accompany the track was created by The Gate Films.

Against all the odds, they have pulled together an all-star cast for the song, including Seal, Beverley Knight, Guy Garvey, Alexandra Burke and UB40. Altogether, the line-up have close to 150 top ten hits between then, and more than 30 number ones. It also features the NHS Choir of doctors and nurses that got to top spot in 2015.

In addition, they have attracted legendary producer Timbaland, who is working with Grammy nominated Brit Jon Cohen to deliver what is sure to be a memorable rendition of the Beatles classic With A Little Help From My Friends. This special NHS version is also supported by Sir Paul McCartney, after the pair wrote him a heartfelt letter.

Dr Katie said of the feat: “Joe and I wanted to think of a way to include everyone who is touched by the NHS in a huge celebration. What better way than a Band Aid-style song and with a national singalong. This is our way to nod to the past seven decades of love, care and the best of British, standing hand in hand with 1.3 million fantastic staff to say ‘happy birthday NHS’.”

Joe added: “I work with NHS staff all over the country and see how hard they work to deliver care for patients. We want this track and singalong to show them just how appreciated they are, and we’re delighted that so many big stars have taken the time to contribute. We really hope everyone goes out and buys it today, and that we have a huge number one to celebrate our country’s greatest institution.”

All proceeds from the single will go to NHS Charities Together, a group of more than 100 NHS charities that provide invaluable funds to improve the experience of patients.

Let's do this and help get the NHS to Number 1...again!!!

One Minute Brief of the Day:
Campaign to promote @CityToSeaBrist #Refill for #WorldOceansDay

Today is #WorldOceansDay and we’re teaming up with our plastic pollution fighting friends City to Sea to help spread the word about their Refill campaign!

Prize:
£200 plus a beautiful Refill x Chilly’s bottle!

Brief:

Create posters to promote #Refill! Tweet them to @oneminutebriefs and @citytoseabrist with the hashtags #Refill #WorldOceansDay

About:

Today (8th June) is World Oceans Day which is all about celebrating our seas. Plastic pollution is one of the biggest threats to our oceans and environmental campaign group City to Sea are helping find solutions to this crisis.

Refill is all about connecting people to taps and fountains, wherever they are, so they can refill their water bottle for free and stop plastic pollution from single-use water bottles at source. It’s fun, easy, saves money, saves oceans!

We have a free app which connects you to your nearest free refill, and there are now over 10,000 refill stations across the UK!

Refill just won gold for 'Best Behaviour Change' in the Global Good Awards and we want to spread the world that you don’t need to buy expensive bottled water … you can top up from the tap wherever you are!

Fewer than half of the bottles bought in 2016 were collected for recycling and just 7% of those collected were turned into new bottles. Instead most plastic bottles produced end up in landfill or in the ocean. Here in the UK around 16 million bottles a DAY don’t get recycled.

Think taps! Think stopping the insanity of buying water that costs you and costs the oceans! Be bold, be silly, have fun! x

About Chasing the Stigma and the Hub of Hope:

Chasing the Stigma is a national mental health charity (charity number 1170757) set up by Liverpool born stand-up comedian and writer, Jake Mills, following his own battle with depression and suicide attempt almost 5 years ago.

The charity aims to normalise and humanise mental health, after all, there is nothing more normal than something we all have.

Everybody in the world has mental health. Yet the fear of being judged is preventing many people from talking about it. Chasing the Stigma want to help remove that fear and unnecessary stigma, by using first-hand experiences to say ‘I have suffered. I got through it and you can too’. You are never alone.

Chasing the Stigma created the Hub of Hope, a first of its kind, national mental health database which brings together organisations and charities, large and small, who offer mental health advice and support, together in one place.

The Hub of Hope, which is free downloadable app, as well as being online at hubofhope.co.uk uses your devices location to find mental health support near you, wherever you are in the country – think of it as the Just Eat of the mental health world.

It is a first of its kind database, making help as easy as possible to find and reaffirming the message, ‘you are never alone’.

About the problem:

Universities have a suicide problem, researchers have said, as a study shows that the number of students taking their own lives has overtaken the general population for the first time.

Research by independent researchers found that the suicide rate among UK students had risen by 56 per cent in the 10 years between 2007 and 2016, from from 6.6 to 10.3 per 100,000 people.

The student suicide rate in 2016 was 9 per cent higher than in 2015 and 25 per cent higher than 2012, when it was 8.3.

ONS figures show that the average suicide rate among the general population of 15-19 year olds was 5.9, while the rate for 20-24 year-olds was 10.4.

"This is the first time we can conclusively say that as far as suicide is concerned, there is a real problem in higher education.”

Sir Anthony Seldon, vice-chancellor of the University of Buckingham and a campaigner on student well-being, told the BBC: "Student suicide rates and emotional distress levels could be reduced at university if we acted differently.

"More support in transitions, better tutoring and early warning, more peer to peer support, an enhanced sense of belonging, would all enhance wellbeing and reduce risk.

"We are obsessed by reactive policy once students hit the bottom of the waterfall; we need to be putting preventative policies in place to prevent them ever tipping over the edge."

Good luck with today's brief and we hope you can help us spread a very important message across the world with today's brief. Thank you.
