Prize for the winner: £100 Amazon vouchers!!!
About:
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, kills 6 people every day.
It has long been considered that use of sunbeds can be a contributory factor in developing melanoma. The NHS, Cancer Research and Macmillan, all give the same advice - ‘do not use sunbeds’.
The World Health Organisation reports that it is estimated that sunbed use is responsible for over 450,000 skin cancer cases and more than 10,000 melanomas in the United States, Europe and Australia.
If melanoma spreads through the body, it is notoriously difficult to treat, and the treatments used are expensive.
Treatment of these cancers costs the NHS over £400m every year.
We want to follow the lead of Australia and ban the sunbed!!

Campaign to promote #MonsterOnAMission with @PurpleEmmett
Today we have another great brief for a good cause with our new monster friend at ‘Purple Emmett’ along with a great prize. Looking forward to see some amazing quick ideas coming through for this fantastic cause
Prize: A bottle of champagne to the winner.
Remember to tweet @OneMinuteBriefs and @PurpleEmmett with the hashtag #MonsterOnAMission. You can also use the hashtags #EpilepsyAware #EndOfScarySeizures
About:
Epilepsy is a condition that affects the brain. When someone has epilepsy, it means they have a tendency to have epileptic seizures which come in many diffrent forms, and they’re not all from the classic go to epilepsy = flashing lights. Anyone can have a one-off seizure, but this doesn’t always mean they have epilepsy. But for many people epilepsy is a life-long condition.
Being diagnosed with epilepsy is life changing and can be scary for young people and children. Emmett, is the friendly purple monster that is putting a stop to this. He is building a environment which helps young people and children learn about epilepsy and what to do if they or someone they know has a seizure or absence. Seizures do not have to be scary. The aim is to get children and young people to recognise Emmett as their friend, there are soon to be children’s books which will be given out free at hospitals around the UK.
One Minute Brief of the Day: Campaign to encourage the public to #LoveYourBrownLawn with @AnglianWater
Campaign to encourage the public to #LoveYourBrownLawn with @AnglianWater
Today we've got a fun brief with a very important message as well as a great prize to be won! Can't wait to see what the OMBLES come up with for this one!
Remember to tweet @oneminutebriefs and @anglianwater with the hashtag #LoveYourBrownLawn
Prize: £100 for the winner!!!
We've had a little bit of rain over the weekend but we've had one of the hottest, driest summers in recent memory and lawns everywhere have been going brown. But contrary to what many proud lawn owners believe, a brown lawn isn’t dying, the roots underneath are still alive and healthy. When it’s hot and dry grass goes dormant to preserve nutrients and as soon as it rains it will quickly bounce back to green. So we’re asking people to put away the sprinkler and the hosepipe and learn to love their brown lawn! Saving water is vital to ensure there’s enough water to go around for people and the environment – and it’s one less garden job to do in the summer!

This is your chance to have your work shared within a huge campaign for a great cause.
About the campaign:
NHS STAFF WHO BEAT BIEBER ARE BACK WITH BAND AID NHS
Dr Katie Rogerson, 33, and fellow NHS worker Joe Blunden, 34, have joined NHS colleagues to create a Band Aid-style single to celebrate the 70th birthday of the NHS, and they hope to top the charts following the track’s release today. The brilliant music video to accompany the track was created by The Gate Films.
Against all the odds, they have pulled together an all-star cast for the song, including Seal, Beverley Knight, Guy Garvey, Alexandra Burke and UB40. Altogether, the line-up have close to 150 top ten hits between then, and more than 30 number ones. It also features the NHS Choir of doctors and nurses that got to top spot in 2015.
In addition, they have attracted legendary producer Timbaland, who is working with Grammy nominated Brit Jon Cohen to deliver what is sure to be a memorable rendition of the Beatles classic With A Little Help From My Friends. This special NHS version is also supported by Sir Paul McCartney, after the pair wrote him a heartfelt letter.
Dr Katie said of the feat: “Joe and I wanted to think of a way to include everyone who is touched by the NHS in a huge celebration. What better way than a Band Aid-style song and with a national singalong. This is our way to nod to the past seven decades of love, care and the best of British, standing hand in hand with 1.3 million fantastic staff to say ‘happy birthday NHS’.”
Joe added: “I work with NHS staff all over the country and see how hard they work to deliver care for patients. We want this track and singalong to show them just how appreciated they are, and we’re delighted that so many big stars have taken the time to contribute. We really hope everyone goes out and buys it today, and that we have a huge number one to celebrate our country’s greatest institution.”
All proceeds from the single will go to NHS Charities Together, a group of more than 100 NHS charities that provide invaluable funds to improve the experience of patients.
Let's do this and help get the NHS to Number 1...again!!!

About the problem:
Research by independent researchers found that the suicide rate among UK students had risen by 56 per cent in the 10 years between 2007 and 2016, from from 6.6 to 10.3 per 100,000 people.
The student suicide rate in 2016 was 9 per cent higher than in 2015 and 25 per cent higher than 2012, when it was 8.3.
ONS figures show that the average suicide rate among the general population of 15-19 year olds was 5.9, while the rate for 20-24 year-olds was 10.4.
"This is the first time we can conclusively say that as far as suicide is concerned, there is a real problem in higher education.”
Sir Anthony Seldon, vice-chancellor of the University of Buckingham and a campaigner on student well-being, told the BBC: "Student suicide rates and emotional distress levels could be reduced at university if we acted differently.
"More support in transitions, better tutoring and early warning, more peer to peer support, an enhanced sense of belonging, would all enhance wellbeing and reduce risk.
"We are obsessed by reactive policy once students hit the bottom of the waterfall; we need to be putting preventative policies in place to prevent them ever tipping over the edge."
Good luck with today's brief and we hope you can help us spread a very important message across the world with today's brief. Thank you.
