One Minute Brief WINNER:
Campaign to Make Cycling Sexy with @DoTheGreenThing

Yesterday was a brilliantly successful collaboration between OMB and our friends at @DoTheGreenThing @Pentagram and @EasyArtUK.

Impressed with the fantastic level of ideas and show and the quantity that came through was amazing. Therefore, it was very difficult to choose from and we have lots of very close runners-up.

THE PRIZE
The winner gets to spend a day in Pentagram’s studio in West London to make their one minute ad into a poster, which will be published by Do The Green Thing. They also win some cycling prints, courtesy of EasyArt, and some great books on branding and design, courtesy of Pentagram.

The overall winner to get these prizes is @PaperJamCreate who has entered lots of fantastic ideas lately and his efforts have been rewarded here. These landscape/body images make you do a double take and will make fantastic posters. E-mail us for your prize.

@owenjevans nearly in the prizes again with 'Ding Dong' A lovely simple thought.

@seeligo with a nice idea based an a dating site. Brilliant.

@sharpstuffbits with these ads focussed on the cyclists themselves. Brilliant ads and also the chain/sweat visual. Lovely style to it.

@little_scamp85 with 'I'm too sexy for my car' and 'grips and chains excite me' Great lines.

@chellybro with 'get your leg over' Funny line and nice visual.

@kat_loveday with 'Nice rack' Cheeky line done in a tasteful stylish way.

@katesteeth with this fantastic visual and logo 'Wonderbars'. Always thinking differently.

@dognbonesjones with the lovely saddle visual. Can you guess what it represents?

@iainthorley with 'SEXCY' Could be a brilliant campaign branding idea.

@alanbingle with 'batteries not included. Could work with lots of different saddles as a campaign set.

@markemoon with 'backy' bit naughty. This could even work by taking the bike out of the shot completely.

@boc_atm with 'Fancy a threesome'? Eye-catching cheeky line.

@matthew__wyatt with 'Love Handles' Really nice thought and CTA.

@rulavam with 'view like this' Could be really eye-catching if well shot.

Well done everybody!! Everyone remember to include your twitter names in the corner of your ads next time though! ;)

One Minute Brief WINNERS:
Campaign For or Against UKIP

With today being all about politics and the noises UKIP have been making. We thought it would make a good brief to run. The ads created were a good mix of for and against UKIP and aren't necessarily the views of their creators. It's all about the ideas and these are the winners.

@_johnford 'don't let the predictable happen' Brilliant use of search media.

@fionchadd with 'UCUNT' Blunt and straight to the point! We like that.

@paperjamcreate with the fantastic Euro visual missing a star.

@dognbonesjones with 'independence day' Great idea and CTA.

@danniyelldesign with an emotive ad using her dog. Hope to see more of these each day!

@stewallan with this brilliant cross over UKIP instead of the box. Quality.

@alvo_muses with 'UPIK' Leaving it quite open but using the branding is interesting.

@matthew__wyatt with 'UKRIP' VERY strong line.

@go_robgreen with reference to the 'YOU-KIP' pronunciation. Nice.

@sheisapenguin with a nice use of UKIP in the copy to act as a call to action of 'You Keep'

@markemoon with 'I'm not homophobic or racist but I'm voting UKIP' Very strong and thought provoking stuff.

@sanzikei with a very personal message as someone who is from overseas.

Great stuff on a challenging brief!

One Minute Brief WINNER:
Advertise Laser Eye Surgery with @FocusClinics

Thanks to everyone who entered yesterday's One Minute Brief for the chance to win the amazing prize of free laser eye surgery worth thousands of pounds.

Huge thanks to Focus Clinics for offering such a life-changing prize and their recognition of the great ideas and close community that the OMBLES have.

There was a huge amount of entries and some absolutely brilliant ideas. However, we can only have one winner.

Ourselves, Focus Clinics and the OMBLES voted and the decision was unanimous.

The overall winner is @owenjevans with his 'celebrities' idea that was so different to the rest. Superb idea. Please e-mail us at interest@bankofcreativity to claim your prize. You can use the prize for either yourself or give a friend or member of family an amazing gift.

Runners-up who were very close to winning on this occasion are:

@nosloppycopy 'Pay nothing until 2020' Stunning line.

@boc_atm with 'spec savers' Simple copy and cheeky dig at the alternative.

@leaworthington 'A site for poor eyes' Good simple CTA and cheeky line.

@sharpstuffbits with #blurredlines Could make a great parody video out of this. Funny take on the brief.

@chrisod1993 with a glasses bin at the exit of the Focus Clinic. Could make a great ambient idea.

@richbayley80 with 'goodbye' Superb typographic visual using glasses.

@dognbonesjones and @matmi with nice '20/20' ideas

@ashkinsella with 'history' Very impactful, strong image.

@owenjevans with 'read the small print, great isn't it' Nice idea that you wouldn't usually think of.

@markemoon with 'believe your eyes' a big thought and campaignable.

Thanks to everybody. Absolutely amazing day for OMB. Credit to you all. Congratulations to Owen. Well deserved.

One Minute Brief of the Day:
Advertise Laser Eye Surgery with Focus Clinics

Win the gift of perfect vision FOR FREE with One Minute Briefs and Focus Clinics.

Create an ad idea in just One Minute and tweet it to @oneminutebriefs for the chance to receive this life-changing prize worth thousands of pounds.
Get your family and friends and involved too by spreading the word about this amazing opportunity.

One of the great things about doing OMB is that you have the chance to get noticed for the ideas you share. Even if it's not for a brand in particular, remember that these brands are still looking and you will get your rewards. On this particular occasion we were called by Focus Laser Eye Surgery in London. They were really impressed by One Minute Briefs. So much so...that this is what they had to say...

"We're happy to offer free laser eye surgery for whoever wins the competition. If they're not suitable or if they don't need the surgery, then they can use this prize for a friend or relative.

We'd love to use a selection of the best ads on our blog/facebook and Twitter and maybe even interview the winner about the ideas behind their entry."

What an amazing prize this could be that can make a huge difference to someones life all from a One Minute Idea.

We see this as being the biggest prize that we've ever been able to give away and want to continue this brief today by devoting it to Focus and give people the chance to receive or give this life-changing prize.

If you entered yesterday, then you can enter the same ad but remember to include the Focus branding and include @FocusClinics in your tweets.

Check out their website here: http://www.focusclinics.com

Haters Gonna Hate

Creative Account
May 18, 2014

Since creating One Minute Briefs a couple of years ago, we have watched it grow into a fantastic community of creative people and made some good friends. There has never been a time where we have questioned whether to continue with One Minute Briefs. Unfortunately, that changed on Friday.

Unprovoked comments were made about us and our followers which we were extremely offended by, not just for ourselves but for all of the people who interact with us online and at events.

The words said about us are as follows:

"They are CUNTS who rely on the creativity of others. They had one good idea that exploits loads of young desperate creatives. When it comes down to their own work - they get fuck all."

Wow.

On a personal level, we were obviously appalled at being called that for starters, and yes we didn't win anything at The Roses on this occasion...thanks for reminding us though. We apologise for being such epic failures. Just remember a lot of people work fucking hard in their jobs and don't get the nominations and recognition they deserve, so to get nominated and then get people talking about how you've failed doesn't make sense.

However, more importantly, these words were offensive in the way they belittled a strong creative community. When we started One Minute Briefs, it was to share the One Minute ideas that we create whether they are bad or good. We didn't expect it to grow in the way it has. It has become a great place to create content and improve quick-thinking. Due to this, it has also become a successful educational tool which the IPA and D&AD have used for students. People can share their ideas and get the opinions of fellow creatives. Plus, as it's all about quick ideas, no-one judges. We just provide a platform for this to happen, so to suggest that we exploit young creatives is obscene and to say they are desperate is offensive to them. These people are just trying to improve and showing enthusiasm by getting involved in a project that has no rules and let's you be purely creative.

We work very hard on One Minute Briefs in our own time. We arrange posts, events, collaborations, prizes as well as interacting with our followers who we appreciate greatly as they are creating great content and making an effort each day for us. We don't exploit this, we reward this as much as possible with prizes, placements, advice, recommendations and we even had our first event recently where our followers met, gained awards, gained friends and some of them told us how One Minute Briefs has improved their confidence, thinking skills and they have seen their careers and opportunities improve as a result.

One creative team has just got a contract at a big agency, their ad in Campaign, nominations and free entry to awards all from doing a few One Minute Briefs. That goes to show we aren't relying on the creativity of others, we are providing a platform for creatives to use to their own advantage. The results have been amazing and we are proud to have made a difference to some people with what we do.

This is why we'll be continuing with One Minute Briefs despite negativity and naivety from certain individuals. Receiving comments like this is difficult when you are trying to do something different that benefits others. It has made us question whether we carry on with One Minute Briefs but we hope that this is a one-off and we will continue you our efforts to reward the OMBLES as much as we can.

Thank you all for your continued support.

We'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas about this or anything else at: interest@bankofcreativity.co.uk

One Minute Brief WINNERS: Advertise Feminism

One Minute Brief WINNERS:
Advertise Feminism

Interesting results in this brief. One thing that we have noticed with OMB is that there are more male winners. This comes down to the fact that more males enter each day. We feel that this is down to having less fear of sharing a bad idea.

This is something that we want to change because the more ideas you share the more you improve and the more chances of winning and hitting upon a great idea.

This brief was for #feminism and we had more entries from females. And the winners are mainly female. This isn't down to the subject...it's down to the great ideas that are shared.

This needs to happen more often, whatever the brief. Whether it's a masculine or feminine product, people in advertising can't pick and choose briefs. It's a collaborative and supportive community at OMB so let's share ideas however good or bad we think they are. After all, they only took a minute.

Winners below:

@saraundo_ with 'the woman who inspires' An empowering line.

@by_sophie with 'maybe it's make-believe' and 'It's not about girl power' Could be a brilliant ads.

@jayneperfect with 'drop the girl-boy thing' Great line and visual.

@thetaylorsailor with a great use of the OMB brief itself.

@LarnerC with a nice copy campaign aimed at men.

@furzedowner with 'Sisters are doing it to themselves' Famous line that relates brilliantly and a fantastic insight and truth.

@killedthehype with 'stop living in the past' Using a very famous but old quote. Nice.

@Alison_Norden using a cheeky inforgraphic style. Great thought.

@sarahlong_xx with 'Believing in equality' that's all' Addressing common misconceptions.

Well done to all who entered. Thank you.

"Let's take things offline" @AgencyQuotes

Creative Account
May 14, 2014

Below is a guest blog post from our friend Vikki Ross who we created @AgencyQuotes with. But there's just one thing...we haven't ever met her in real life. So "Let's take things offline" #thingsyouhearinagencies

“That’s what the internet’s for”
It’s funny the things you hear in agencies isn’t it? That’s what I thought when I created the hashtag. It came from #thingsyouhearinmeetings, which I created client-side. Seriously, some business jargon needs a translator. Then during a quiet moment agency-side, I listened to conversations between the account team and the creatives, the planners and the studio managers, and I thought, “I’m tweeting that,” and that’s when I started the hashtag #thingsyouhearinagencies.

“It’s a good start”
The hashtag’s popularity grew fast and my followers joined in. We were all hearing the same things and sharing quotes that made us laugh, commiserate and celebrate our industry together. Little did I know, Nick Entwistle and James Clancy were doing a similar thing and they took the initiative to get in touch and suggest we push the idea further together. They’re the successful creative team behind @BOC_ATM and the hugely popular @OneMinuteBriefs, and their smart thinking and hungry ambition are probably two of the factors that got them shortlisted for Cannes Young Lions in 2013 and 2014.

“Make it pop”
Nick and James set up our @AgencyQuotes account – a place for everyone to tweet and retweet all the brilliant things we hear in agencies. As a freelance copywriter, I work in a number of agencies and it’s so exciting when I hear someone say something that a colleague responds to with “I’m tweeting that!”

“Do it in post production”
@AgencyQuotes started two years ago, and almost 15,000 tweets to over 4,000 followers around the world later, Nick, James and I have still never met. We’ve shared emails and Direct Messages on Twitter since our partnership began but never spoken and never met. How’s that for a successful remote relationship?

“It just works”
Twitter is a great way of communicating to people you may never meet in your day-to-day life. But that doesn't mean you can’t create something together. Connecting is easy and conversations are welcome. Online friendships and even collaborative partnerships are made – with successful results. With @AgencyQuotes, it took three people with a similar idea to work together and make it grow.

“Have fun with it”
With your support, @AgencyQuotes will keep growing. There’s always an iteration that fits. I tweeted the #thingsyouhearatNewBloodjudging while judging the D&AD New Blood Awards copywriting brief entries earlier this week, and now we’re introducing #thingsyouhearatNewBlood for people to use at the upcoming Festival and Awards Ceremony.

“Let’s take it offline”
Nick and James will be at the D&AD New Blood Festival from 1-3 July challenging visitors to respond to their One Minute Briefs. And I’ll be there on the last day. That’s right folks, on 3 July, the people behind @AgencyQuotes are finally going to meet in person! Join in online or come and meet us too. Nick and James will be talking about the importance of social media, and there’ll be live @OneMinuteBriefs for remote working and successful collaborations on the day. There’ll be prizes for some of the new @AgencyQuotes followers at the event, the best #thingsyouhearatNewBlood tweet and @OneMinuteBriefs entries.
